February VTHRA Program: How to Handle ICE and Legal Obligations in the Workplace

Employers may occasionally face situations involving immigration enforcement or questions related to employee work authorization. Understanding your legal obligations—and how to respond appropriately and consistently—is critical to protecting both your organization and your employees.

Join VTHRA for an informative session led by Kerin Stackpole, attorney at Paul Frank + Collins, as she provides practical guidance on how employers can prepare for and respond to interactions involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the workplace.

This session will cover:

  • Employer rights and responsibilities related to immigration compliance

  • What to do (and not do) if ICE contacts or visits your workplace

  • Best practices for documentation, communication, and internal procedures

  • How to ensure consistent, lawful responses aligned with company policy

Designed for HR professionals, people managers, and business leaders, this program will focus on clarity, preparedness, and compliance—helping employers navigate these situations with confidence and care.
